Model Railway Workshop
Here, collectible locomotives get more than a new motor — they get a new character of motion.

About the Workshop
We create the motion these models always deserved.
Every model passes through the same pair of hands — from the first inspection to the final test. We don't hand the work off, and we don't rush. If something can be done better, we do it better.
For us, this isn't a stream of orders. It's a separate story with every model — its character, its condition, and what it can become after the work is done.

Services
01
The locomotive is fully disassembled. Old grease is removed, mechanical assemblies are cleaned, inspected, and assessed for technical condition. If needed, a list of parts for replacement is drawn up.
02
The gearbox is fully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, re-lubricated, and reassembled. Mechanical adjustments and new part installation are carried out as needed.
03
The stock motor is removed. If necessary, the frame or mounts are reworked to fit a modern brushless drive.
04
The new motor is installed, centered, and secured. After mounting, time is allowed for the adhesive bond to fully cure.
05
Once assembly is complete, the mechanism receives its final lubrication. The locomotive is run in, and the decoder settings are configured.
06
Smoothness of motion, minimum speed, running stability, and overall conversion quality are checked before the model is returned to its owner.
Every conversion is individual. The scope of work depends on the locomotive's construction, its technical condition, and the motor chosen.
How We Work
We receive the model, document its initial condition, assess its technical state, and agree on the scope of work required.
We carefully disassemble the model, document its construction, and prepare all assemblies for further modernization.
We install the new drive, carry out any necessary mechanical rework, check the electrical connections, and prepare the model for setup.
We run the model in, check the smoothness of motion, perform final setup, and hand the model back to its owner with a 6-month guarantee.
Works
Get in Touch
Tell us about your model. We'll assess its construction, suggest the best conversion option, and honestly explain which work makes sense for your specific case.
Based in Ukraine, Railway Atelier primarily serves local collectors and model railway enthusiasts. However, we are also happy to accept models from customers worldwide, excluding Russia. International shipping can be arranged through DHL or Meest, with any applicable custom duties paid by the customer.
After a successful conversion, there's sometimes an urge to do something unexpected — turn off the sound. And simply enjoy how quietly and smoothly the model moves.
